About the Platform
Although the latest advances in technology of the internet have provided improvements for individuals to seek information easily, the benefits to companies and organization has not been fully realized. Most of the advances have occurred at the consumer level. In addition, the cost to businesses to provide the capabilities is labor intensive and expensive particularly in targeted segments such as water quality and risk management: highly targeted, independent, up-to-date water management information and solutions; new-tech, high-tech, clean-tech, and mobile tools and devices; time-tested proven practices and methods across industries and continents.
Recognizing this gap, H2oAlliance has provided a unique solution. It has taken three years of water market research, with over 200 experts contributing from diverse backgrounds including industry, business, technology, ICT, SCM, GSM, process management, automation, engineering, academic and public policy. The result is a first of its kind, independent 'Water management and Collaboration platform'. The effort to build such a platform is substantial; 18,000 of man hours, 26 months, and millions of dollars to design and custom build the platform.
We recognize that it would require major investments and ongoing support for companies and organizations to build and maintain what we have already accomplished and what is planned for the future support of an independent global community of water management experts, leaders and learners. This integrated and independent platform will improve water management efficiency and reduce water management costs (human & capital), as water management experts, leaders, professionals and learners at local, global and corporate level are connected by targeted water management information, collaboration, and expertise. This platform will enable even developing countries with very limited budgets and resources to empower their water management professionals with knowledge and information. They can share their unique problems with community of water management experts to learn how they can effectively solve problems and implement solutions at local level.

A Call For Collective Action To Improve OEE, and to Optimize Water
Sustainability.
August 1, 2008, Atlanta, GA --- Business leaders and
companies of every size and from every industry, must work together to reduce
freshwater demand and diminish pollution of our water resources. OEE (Overall
Equipment Effectiveness) and constant water quality management are keys to
success in establishing sustainable water management plans and policies.
Improved OEE will reduce demand for freshwater, optimize the use of chemicals
and energy in industrial process, diminish waste, and improve risk management
efficiency.
Constant good water quality in source, treated, circulating,
and waste water increases corporate productivity and profitability. Water
quality is correlated to corporate wealth and public health, and safe and good
water quality are critical to the local communities. Businesses and communities
are co-dependant and cannot be sustained unless they manage their water quality
effectively.
For companies seeking new-tech solutions to improve their
OEE, Liqum (www.Liqum.com) has developed a partner program which provides proven
tools and methods to improve OEE. The program goal is to increase OEE by an
average of 2% within one year. All that is required from companies is a
commitment to test the Chena® detection and early warning system side-by-side
with existing industrial or environmental process monitoring systems for
12-months. Partners can pilot the Chena® technology for a reduced rate for up to
one year.
The developed and developing countries will face freshwater shortages in the future,
and new water quality and management challenges due to the climate changes. No
one company, organization, community, government or NGO can solve water-related
problems alone. Therefore, we must work together. Companies seeking to tangible
ways to improve their water sustainability plans and polices, can join the Liqum
program today. Together, we can make a difference locally, nationally and
globally in communities we serve.

Water Quality - No 1 Concern to the Americans.
Atlanta, GA, May 1, 2008 ---- Over the years, Americans have shown increasing
concern about environmental problems related to water.
When
Americans were recently asked in a Gallup poll to rank the top 12 environment
concerns from predefined categories such as global warming; the top four were
related to water quality, with pollution of drinking water as the top
concern.
These results are not new, polluted drinking water has topped
the list every time it has been included the poll. When the category hasn't been
included, then other concerns about water safety finished first. For more info,

FreshWaterAlert - A Call to Water
Quality Risk Management Action.
March 20, 2008, Atlanta, GA --- To put the spotlight on Water Quality issues in 2008, the H2oAlliance recognizes the World Water Day by announcing a New Global Water Quality Risk Management partnership program entitled FreshWaterAlert, and launching WEMS, the first online Water Quality Management Platform in the world. Stakeholders around the world are encouraged to draw attention to the water quality challenge, economic risks and safety issues, and are invited to join the WEMS platform.
The quality of water, whether it is used for drinking, industrial processes, irrigation or recreational purposes, is significant for individual's health as well as corporate wealth. The issue is relevant in both developing and developed countries worldwide. Water quality can have a major impact on the economy, both through outbreaks of waterborne disease and pollution. Accordingly, the private sector and the public sector have developed water quality standards, policies, and management programs.
A very important aspect of water management process is a better understanding of the water quality. However, a management policy can not be developed or improved without the availability of water quality data. Therefore, water quality data forms the basis for developing any water management policy. Recognising this, Liqum Inc. (www.Liqum.com) has developed WEMS online platform, the first integrated real-time Water Quality Management System in the world. WEMS was designed to help the private sector and the public sector to manage and enhance water quality, optimize water-efficiency, and minimize water-related risks.
WEMS uses real-time single-sensor electrochemical measuring, monitoring, and early warning technologies. It helps water users to better optimize water quality, minimize freshwater consumption, and manage water-related risks. WEMS online platform offers two big opportunities for water users and policy makers. The first, for technology to help companies leverage freshwater use, and provide solutions for water-efficiency on a broad scale. The second, for online data centers and analytics. A massive amount of data is required for tracking water quality and water-efficiency in an industrial process, and analyzing inefficiencies to optimize water usage. All data needs to be transferred, stored, retrieved, and backed up. WEMS provides the infrastructure to deal with the amount of data that most water users need to analyze, and takes care of data processing.
WEMS allows for a broad set of consistent indicators to be collected and evaluated when deciding on priorities, and future strategies. WEMS delivers the following; it will keep management teams informed; it improves industrial and environmental water capacity management on a local, national and international scale; it fills the need to present data representing overall water quality and availability; it provides a basis to establish consistent standards of measurement and methodology; and it enables real-time data collection in order to establish an empirical foundation for water resource management. Policy makers can maintain and improve availability of accurate real-time information required for water management and policy, while keeping the associated administrative cost and burdens to a minimum.
The private sector can join the the WEMS platform to automate and organize water quality data collection, and simplify water management, analysis, data exchange, and use of information required for design and implementation of a new water management policy. The real-time reporting system is based on online access, and sharing of water quality management reports.
The public sector can join the WEMS to develop new local, national, or global real-time water databases to monitor environmental and industrial performance.
The FreshWaterAlert awareness campaign goal is to help water users prevent water quality hazards, and accelerate risk management progress. The mission is to provide information on sector-specific, practical and efficient, water quality management solutions through technology, and contacts worldwide. The vision is to eliminate water quality-related risks to human health, economy, and environment,
The FreshwaterAlert campaign also aims to raise awareness for UNICEF sponsored programs in 2008. According to UNICEF, unsafe water supplies contribute to 88 per cent of all diseases. In 2008, which is also the International Year of Sanitation, the message to governments around the world is that safe-water goals cannot be achieved without directly tackling the current sanitation crisis. Here's how you can get involved and what you can do to help International Year of Sanitation 2008: http://esa.un.org/iys/getinvolved.shtml

Liqum Inc. Catches a Tidal Wave By
Endorsing The CEO Water Mandate, and Joining A Group of Global Business
Leaders.
February 29, 2008, Atlanta, GA
---- Liqum Inc., a water technology solutions company based in Finland, took a
giant leap today by endorsing The CEO Water Mandate. The CEO Mandate in
partnership with the international community through the United Nations Global
Compact, is an initiative representing both a
call to action and a strategic framework for companies seeking to address the
issue of water sustainability in their operations, and supply
chains.
The six areas covered in the CEO Water Mandate
represent a strategic fit for Liqum which has built its global business since
1999 on designing and implementing water-efficiency technologies, and
providing water management services to the water market. The areas of focus are: Direct Operations; Supply Chain and Watershed
Management; Collective Action; Public Policy; Community Engagement; and
Transparency. Liqum is committed to help mobilize companies in all regions of
the world.
"It is easy to overlook and miscalculate the impact
of World Water Crisis especially if you live in a country like Finland, where
unlimited supply of clean water is easily available to all individuals, and
industrial water users. But the water crisis is growing and is highly prevalent
in both developed and developing countries. New water-efficiency technologies,
and eco-innovation solutions are desperately needed to minimize further water
stress worldwide", according to Sakari Laitinen, CEO, Liqum
Inc.
"Almost two years on from the "Get more out of
Water" programme's inception, Liqum Inc. is now ready to go beyond awareness by
releasing the first actual online Water-Efficiency Management platform in the world, and affordable real-time mobile and wireless water monitoring devices, and risk management services. Liqum's network of distributors will be involved in the
planning and implementation of water-efficiency research, education and risk management
programmes, not only for industrial water users, but for the public sector, and
communities in which they operate. On the basis that dissemination of
information alone cannot shift attitudes and change behaviour; we have learned that one of the most effective ways of encouraging attitudinal and behavioral
change is through peer-to-peer education where business leaders at all levels
are trained to educate their colleagues", adds Minna LeVine, President, CEO, Liqum Inc. USA.
