H2oAlliance Announces the Release of the First Complete Real-Time Water-Efficiency Management Platform in the World

February 14, 2008, Atlanta, GA
---
H2oAlliance announces the release of WEMS, Water-Efficiency Management Platform, the first complete real-time water measuring, monitoring, and early warning system in the world.

WEMS is a new integrated water control system that will become the flagship platform for the "Get more out of Water" initiative. It helps industrial water users reduce the water stress and pollution in the environment, analyse and summarize complex multidimensional phenomena, intepret analysis, and to facilitate the communication within companies, research and management teams.

The launch of the WEMS platform takes the "Get more out of Water" initiative to its next evolutionary step, integrating global, real-time, online, wireless and mobile water monitoring and management solutions, and services into one platform. WEMS will replace the role of many traditional and costly control systems and lab services, and research, measuring, monitoring and analysis tools.

The real-time technology makes it easy to leverage water-efficiency and reduce waste on a broad scale; the system collects large amounts of data that is required to track and identify water-related problems, and to optimise the use of water, chemicals and energy.

WEMS uses
electrochemistry, and patented time-tested single sensor liquid monitoring technology to collect and analyse data in real-time. It gathers together knowledge, process data, and new information about the state of the liquid process chemistry. This information is combined and then refined, using an intelligent data handling system, into a compressed and visual form to enable the necessary corrective, or indeed preventive actions to be taken.

WEMS provides data processing, infrastructure, and an accurate real-time data system, that is critical to operators, management and research teams. WEMS provides operators with effortless and real-time control of the entire process, and contributes to the smooth implementation of planned process changes. Operators and management personnel are well-informed, changes and events disturbing production are detected early, so that corrective action can be taken before the disturbance leads to economic loss. A stable process improves water-efficiency, and maximizes productivity.

WEMS can be applied to a variety of industrial uses, from water research to quality management in manufacturing, to water industry index financial analysis, and environmental monitoring. It is guaranteed to reduce freshwater, chemical and energy consumption. It is designed to optimise water quality, OEE, and process performance.

A small investment in WEMS can easily pay for itself within less than a year. Starting in March 2008, industrial water users around the world can gain special access to the WEMS online platform, and the WEMS monitoring tool, and start managing their water resources more efficiently for a one-time license fee, and a monthly service fee.

The WEMS technology has been tested in Europe, USA and South America in over 50 industrial processes with great success during the past eight years. All water users have reported improved OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency), and up to 25% savings in freshwater and chemical usage. WEMS has been evaluated as the most advanced real-time water measuring, monitoring and early warning system by some of the world's leading process automation engineers, scientists, researchers, and technology, chemical, and electrochemical experts.

A Small Investment in Simple Water Technology Can Prevent Major Drinking Water Disasters

Atlanta, GA, December 6, 2007 --- Concerns about the effects of climate change and freshwater distribution, floods, and droughts, have made "WATER QUALITY" one of the hottest issues for people around the world.

“A small investment in simple and affordable real-time water monitoring technology can prevent major drinking water disasters. Constant water quality monitoring, measuring and analysis are critical, especially during drought conditions, and long dry season”,
according to Sakari Laitinen, CTO, Liqum Inc., Finland.

Raw and treated drinking water quality varies from place-to-place, time-to-time, depending on the condition of the source water from which it is drawn, and the treatment it receives. Measuring, monitoring and controlling water quality and purification processes places great demands on water treatment plants during drought.

Water treatment plants can manage risk and prevent major drinking water disasters by simply installing a real-time electrochemical water quality monitoring system called “FreshWaterAlert” in their facilities. The system was developed by Liqum Water Technology Group in Finland. It analyzes water quality in real-time, alerts any changes in water quality, eliminates human error, minimizes risk, and secures safe drinking water quality at all times. It is a win-win situation in every community.

The application of an electric signal, and the monitoring of the liquids, can also detect key substances in most industrial processes. A series of electro analytical techniques offers the possibility of performing a plethora of qualitative or quantitative determinations of substances in several of matrices. These substances are analyzed by techniques that make use of electrochemical detectors. Electrochemical techniques offer increasing degrees of accuracy, and detection limits, often involving dramatically lower costs than other techniques.

Constant electrochemical water quality monitoring is vital in potable and waste water management, and a key to success in industrial process management. Real-time water quality monitoring offers a series of advantages; it saves water; reduces chemical and energy consumption; minimizes waste water emissions, by-product formation, raw material usage; improves efficiency, productivity and profitability.
