FreshWaterAlert™ - A Global Call For Water Quality Action To Help
Communities, Families and Children.
Atlanta, GA, 22 April, 2008 ---
H2oAlliance launched a new campaign entitled "FreshWaterAlert' to recognize the
Earth Day, and to help ease the worldwide water quality crisis.
The
campaign will provide education, raise awareness, promote volunteer efforts, and
provide solutions to global water-quality related problems. The focus is
water quality and water-efficiency, and the goal is to improve water quality and
reduce water stress. The vision is to help ease the burden on millions
of families who currently struggle to access safe water, and promote world peace
through freshwater awareness.
The FreshWaterAlert campaign uses
entrepreneurial approaches to increase awareness, and help key non-profit
partners raise much needed funds for worthy causes. The campaign encourages
people to support UNICEF's drive to bring safe water to communities, helping
families and children in emergency situations, and reducing household exposure
to contaminated water.
Unsafe drinking water exacts a heavy toll on
families and children worldwide. According to UNICEF, and estimated five
thousand children die every day from simple diarrhea, a water-borne affliction.
"Better water quality management in communities we live and work in, can
save lives and drastically cut pollution. Millions of lives can be saved or
transformed by simply focusing on water quality, and better raw, treated,
recycled and waste water management. And our experience managing water quality suggests that new real-time mobile water quality monitoring and measuring technologies
could be a extremely valuable in managing drinking water-related risks even in most isolated areas, and especially during emergencies such as floods, droughts, and national
security", says H2oAlliance's Founder, Minna LeVine.
FreshWaterAlert campaign is a great example of how combining
resources of the public and private sector volunteers can help improve water
quality in communities, and bring safe drinking water within easy reach of the
families that need it.
