water-related diseases, of which over 6,000 – mainly children – die
each day by consuming unsafe drinking water.
- Today,
over one billion people are without access to safe drinking water,
robbing hundreds of women and girls of dignity, energy and time.
Here's what you can do:
- Donate 6 cents - it provides one packet of oral rehydration salts for one child to treat severe dehydration and diarrhea, a leading cause of death among your children.
- Donate $61 - it provides a small scale micro-filter, water purifier, and disinfectant used to eliminate harmful micro-organisms in turbid water in cases of emergency.
- Donate $10 - it provides one insecticide-treated mosquito net to protect children against malaria. Cost includes net,supplies, training & transport.
- Donate $15 - it buys one carton of high energy protein biscuits to support and rehabilitate three severely malnourished children for one month.
- FreshWaterAlert raises awareness how people can participate in mobilizing campaigns that help people in need for safe and clean drinking water, and reduce spread of waterborne diseases of major public concern such as
typhoid, cholera, dysentery and diarrhea.
