Water-Efficiency Management System, WEMS

In most industries and many communities, water quality can cause operational, social, and environmental problems. Since most industries use significant raw, and treated water in industrial processes, and produce waste and recycling streams; controlling overall water quality and consumption throughout the production process, is crucial.

Water risk management has become a critical issue worldwide. Legislation requiring water users to meet specific water quality standards, to have freshwater conservation programs, and environmental water monitoring systems in place, is becoming very common.

Industrial demand of water has exploded during the past decade. Freshwater water quality and usage varies considerably between source location, process, and industry. Industrial growth and water stress will have a significant impact on water quality and quantity, and will increase demand for water-efficiency, and risk technologies and management solutions.

A very important aspect of water management process is a better understanding of the water quality. However, a management policy can not be developed or improved without the availability of water quality data. Therefore, water quality data forms the basis for developing any water management policy. Recognising this, Liqum Inc. (www.Liqum.com) has developed a real-time Water Quality Management Platform called WEMS. This online Water-Efficiency Management System was designed to help the private sector and the public sector to enhance water quality, optimize water-efficiency, and minimize water-related risks.

Water-Efficiency Management System, WEMS

Water-Efficiency Management System, WEMS, allows for a broad set of consistent indicators to be collected and evaluated when deciding on priorities, and future strategies. The private sector can automate and organize water quality data collection, and simplify water management, analysis, data exchange, and use of information required for design and implementation of a new water management policy. The real-time reporting system is based on online access, and sharing of water quality management reports. The public sector can develop new local, national, and global real-time water databases to monitor environmental and industrial performance.

Water-Efficiency Management Index, WEMI

Water-Efficiency Management Index, WEMI, software monitors a combination of freshwater usage, process management, and the financial performance of the company. It reflects the different factors related to point-of-entry, point-of-use, and point-of-exit of water quality, and is related electro-chemistry. The index provides real-time data, including instant online analysis, and timely reports.

WEMS Online Platform delivers the following; it will keep management teams informed; it improves industrial and environmental water capacity management on a local, national and international scale; it fills the need to present data representing overall water quality and availability; it provides a basis to establish consistent standards of measurement and methodology; and it enables real-time data collection in order to establish an empirical foundation for water resource management. Policy makers can maintain and improve availability of accurate real-time information required for water management and policy, while keeping the associated administrative cost and burdens to a minimum. Water users can join the WEMS online platform and start analyzing water quality and improving inefficiencies in their water-related industrial processes. WEMS can be used in diverse industries and delivered worldwide.

WEMS Benefits:
  • Helps industrial water users manage their water resources efficiently in real-time, online, and via mobile technology.
  • Identifies the problem areas in water-related industrial processes by analyzing water usage and efficiency; the use of freshwater, distribution, and wastewater management.
  • Delivers the technology tools and online services that help water users reduce water stress; save freshwater; manage water quality in real-time; anticipate potential water-related problems; and forecast future process and water management needs more effectively.
  • Requires no investment in new hardware or infrastructure.
  • Offers a turnkey solution to industrial water quality management needs. Once implemented WEMS is accessible through multiple interfaces, as e.g. PC, laptop, mobile devices, etc. -anytime and anywhere.
  • Platform is scalable, flexible, can be quickly implemented, and easily integrated in your existing infrastructure.
  • Offers a quick ROI, and is designed to interact with your existing management system. As your water management needs expand, WEMS solution grows to accommodate your increasing water management demands.

WEMS Features:

  • Enables real-time data collection, organization and exchange of information.
  • Collects data, analyses and summarizes complex multidimensional phenomena, intepret analysis, and facilitates the communication within companies, research and management teams in real-time anywhere anytime.
  • Allows internal and external communication that will be necessary to take immediate action, implement water risk management principles, and policies.
  • Has been tested with great success in over fifty industrial water quality management projects worldwide.
  • Meets all operational and reporting requirements, and is designed to simplify, stimulate and streamline information requirements by providing a coherence and up-to-date overall framework.
  • Automates and organizes water quality data collection and simplifies water management, analysis, exchange and and use of information required for design and implementation of a new water management policy.
  • Reporting system is based on online access, and sharing of real-time water quality reports.
  • Manages local, national or global real-time water databases and monitors environmental and industrial performance; allows for a broad set of consistent indicators to be collected and evaluated when deciding on priorities, and future strategies; keeps operation and management teams informed to improve industrial and environmental water capacity management on a local, national and international scale; fills the need to present data representing overall water quality and availability, and provides a basis to establish consistent standards of measurement and methodology; enables real-time data collection in order to establish an empirical foundation for water resource management.
  • Maintains and improves availability of accurate an real-time information required for water management and policy, while keeping the associated administrative cost and burdens to a minimum.
  • Makes information available to online users.
  • Collects water quality data at its source, analyses and processes data through common software tools; creates visual reports and shares information with online users for many purposes; makes information readily available to users to enable them to easily fulfil their operational and legal obligations; enables water users to assess water quality data in a timely fashion and to take action in case of emergency, design new policy, to make comparisons at the appropriate geographical scale e.g. countries, cities, catchment areas, to participate meaningfully in the development and implementation of water quality management policy; makes information available, after due consideration of the appropriate level of aggregation and subject to appropriate confidentiality constraints; shares information; analyses and processes data through common software tools.
  • Is a product of over fifty diverse industrial and environmental pilot projects, and over a decade of water quality management know-how designed to ensure that the information is collected and organised accurately and effectively.
  • Ensures that the investments currently allocated towards water quality monitoring, measuring and information-gathering processes lead to the greatest possible benefits in terms of the use that is made of the resulting data.
  • Affords water users the ability to monitor water quality in real-time, save water and chemicals, and therefore boost OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency).
  • Uses real-time electrochemical water monitoring technology. It has proven a great success reducing water and chemical usage, controlling the overall water quality in most industrial processes, and eliminating problems. Also, every liter of freshwater saved reduces the burden on the environment, and saves money for water users.
  • Technology was developed by Liqum Water Technologies, a recognized water management solutions company (www.Liqum.com). It was designed as a response to an exploding need for managing freshwater more efficiently in industrial processes around the world.
  • Online platform was developed by a group of electrochemical experts, process engineers, and business leaders, to assess water usage and boost OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) in all water-related industrial processes.
  • Is affordable even for small companies, and easily available worldwide.
  • Delivers a clear overview, of the water-efficiency use in any liquid-related process.
  • Illustrates the timing, causes, effects, trends, and problems of minor to major concerns in the process.
  • Is unique, first and one of its kind on the market. It uses time-tested software, proven and customizable real-time monitoring system, designed to reduce water use, and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency).
